“Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value.”
That is one of the many inspirational quotes left behind by one of the greatest innovator and marketer in modern history – Steve Jobs.
I woke up yesterday 6 October hearing the news of his demise due to his long drawn battle against cancer.
Ever since, endless streams of people have been paying tributes to this great man, including politicians and his business competitors.
The extent of the out pour of compliments and display of emotions defines the vast influence over the world that was cast through one man’s ingenuity and creativity.
To reflect on the first statement of this blog - ”Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value.”, how true that statement holds.
I need not explain the underlying profound yet obvious principle to insult your intelligence.
And I firmly believe only when we become a man of the latter would the former surface.
Let’s apply this in our dealings with our team mates, our friends, clients and every human soul that we come across in our daily lives.
You will be missed, Mr Steve Jobs.
